This Saturday June 6 is National Learn to Row day at rowing clubs across the country.  If you are interested in trying on-water rowing, this is your chance to do so in a safe introductory environment.

Locally in northern New Jersey, Nereid Boat Club is hosting a program, and provided a description as follows:

Rutherford, New Jersey: Nereid Boat Club is holding its 10th annual free National Learn to Row Event on Saturday, June 6, 10am – 1pm. This event is open to everyone, reservations are not required, and it is free – there is no charge for any activities.

Participants can tour the Nereid Boathouse, learn about the care and maintenance of rowing shells, and get an instructional practice session on a rowing erg. Interested attendees can also get a brief on-the-water instructional rowing session on the Passaic River in a real rowing shell. Participants must be at least 14 years old to have an erg or water instructional session, and those under 18 need a parent/guardian present. No food will be available for sale, but free light snacks and water will be available. This National Learn to Row Event will be held rain or shine.
