A big thank you to New York Sports Club in Ridgewood, NJ. As the only gym in the area with power after Hurricane Sandy, they opened their doors and offered free passes for people to come work out, take a hot shower, and charge their devices. Compassionate, and brilliant marketing too. Sandy the manager was really nice.
I got in 6x250m intervals on a Concept2 model E, squats to 265, and some stability work with dumbbells. They also have box jumps and agility ladders. I’ve never been so happy to see a Smith rack after a week trapped in the house!
With mile-long lines at gas stations and tree limbs or wires closing many roads and all the parks, going for a run or driving to CrossFit Ignite was not an option. I was fortunate to have power and a couple of kettlebells in the garage.
We just found out that the PRRA boathouse is inaccessible because Riverside County Park is closed. Some nearby area have been told it will be another 12 days before power is restored.
Well done NYSC!
