A weekend of seconds

Well I had 2 good races on Sunday at the Head of the Passaic:  I stroked a Nereid 8+, which was rehearsal for the Head of the Charles next weekend, and bowed a composite double with an elite lightweight from NYAC.  Unfortunately they both results in second place finishes, by 3 seconds in the 8+ and by 7 seconds in the 2x, ironically to a crew of massively huge Crossfitters from SoNo Athletic Club in Connecticut.  It was the typical head race chaos – junior quads t-boned under the bridge, stopping the 2x race, etc., but it was a beautiful fall day and a good time overall.  I talked to Chris, the SoNo coach, and he seems to have an interesting concept – he describes SoNo as “a Crossfit box that is also a rowing club”.  I’ll have to go check it out.
