CFJ Video: 3-stroke peak wattage on Concept2

Interesting video recently posted on the Crossfit Journal about the Canadian national rowing team training in Sacramento, and how they use a 3-stroke peak wattage test on the Concept2 erg to gauge max power output.  They are basically targeting being able to post double the watts at peak that they would need to maintain as their base during a race.  Not sure I agree with their layback position at the end of the test, or with having to have other rowers hold the machine, as you would fall out of the boat if you actually attempted to row like this.  But then again I can’t pull 1100 watts either, so what do I know? Fundamentally this is a weakness I am training, and have seen results from Crossfit – peak power output on the C2, using whatever test method you believe in as long as you are consistent.  🙂
