This is a blog about my 25-year journey as a competitive rower and my quest, at mid-life, to take my performance to the next level instead of seeing it plateau and slowly drain away. I discovered Crossfit in December 2009 via a reference to it in Xeno Muller’s Twitter feed. Within about 30 minutes I was intrigued and decided to try it out since the philosophy seemed to make sense and many of the exercises were familiar from circuit training for rowing. I believe the best way to increase performance across the board is to challenge your body with new things that it doesn’t know how to do, and Crossfit seemed like a great thing to dive into for the cold winter months here in New Jersey. So I joined Crossfit Ignite and have been humbled and sore ever since! I’ve seen a lot of info on Crossfitters using the Concept2 rowing machine as a training tool, but not much about rowers incorporating Crossfit into their training. So I’ve decided to embark on this journey, and I invite Crossfitters and rowers to join me and see where it leads!
